Continuing Education Units for Caregivers

A.L.L.C.T. offers to students a program of 12 hours (clock hours) of continuing education as required by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Administrative Code TITLE 9, CHAPTER 10.

The program covers:

• 6 hours of ongoing training for Supervisory Care Services R9-10-707(B)
1. Promoting resident dignity, independence, self-determination, privacy, choice, and resident rights (2 hours)
2. Fire, safety, and emergency procedures (1 hour)
3. Infection control (1 hour)
4. Assistance in self-administration of medications (1 hour)
5. Abuse, neglect, and exploitation prevention and reporting requirements (1 hour)

• 2 hours of ongoing training in providing Personal Care Services R9-10-722. (B)
1. The aging process, common medical conditions associated with aging or physical disabilities (2 hours)

• 4 hours of ongoing training in providing services to residents who are unable to direct self-care for Directed Care Services R9-10-723. (C)
1. Communicating with a resident who is unable to direct self care (2 hours)
2. Managing difficult behaviors in a resident who is unable to direct self-care (2 hours)
